Blessing Bowl – Aroha Love
For me, the Pīwakawaka is a joyful, expressive spirit. It is a bird of communication, and in this piece I imagined two Pīwakawaka flying towards each other, full of the joy of connection and love.
The words Aroha and Love are worked into the artwork, bringing the feeling of the piece together.
This one-of-a-kind Blessing Bowl is individually made and hand painted by me in my studio in Aotearoa. The organic form is shaped by hand, with the birds and fine details painted and etched directly onto the clay.
The matte black and white exterior contrasts with the shining gold interior, giving the vessel warmth and depth. As you move around the bowl, the birds and artwork follow the curve of the form, making it a piece you can enjoy from every angle.
Made by me
Each Blessing Bowl is made individually, from shaping the clay through to painting, etching and finishing.
No two vessels can ever be exactly alike. Small variations in shape, texture and painted detail are part of the handmade process and make your bowl an original piece of Amber Smith ceramic art.
Made to be displayed and lived with, this is a piece about love, connection and the joy of expressing how you feel.
