This one-of-a-kind ceramic Blessing Bowl carries the message “I love you – Kei te aroha au ki a koe”, with three Tūī bringing the words to life.
I made this bowl as a piece about love that is direct, generous and uncomplicated. Sometimes there is nothing more important to say than those three little words.
The three Tūī are hand painted and etched into the clay, creating the fine black-and-white artwork across the surface. Their movement around the bowl gives the piece a sense of connection, while the organic form of the vessel keeps it unmistakably handmade.
Made by me
Each Blessing Bowl is individually made in my studio, from shaping the clay through to painting, etching and finishing.
I don't use moulds or make identical production decals. The shape of the bowl, the surface of the clay and the hand-painted details will always have small variations, making each one an original piece of Amber Smith ceramic art.
This is a substantial piece, made to be displayed and enjoyed as an artwork in its own right — something you live with and treasure.
