Blessing Bowl – Tūī  Tūī

For me, the Tūī represents strength, guidance, a free spirit and the protection of love.

A Tūī pair fly together around this vessel, their movement and connection creating the heart of the artwork. There are no words on this piece the birds, the form and the hand-painted detail are what give this bowl its meaning.

This one-of-a-kind Blessing Bowl is individually made and hand painted by me in my studio in Aotearoa. The organic form is shaped by hand, with the Tūī and fine details painted and etched directly onto the clay.

The matte black and white exterior contrasts with the brilliant gold interior, giving the bowl a beautiful depth and warmth.

Each Blessing Bowl is made slowly and individually, from shaping the clay through to painting, etching and finishing.

No two vessels can ever be exactly the same. Small variations in the shape, surface and painted detail are part of the handmade process and make your bowl an original piece of Amber Smith ceramic art.

Made to stand on its own as an artwork, this is a piece to display, live with and treasure.
