Fly free, spirit fly
E Rere Wairua
Fly free, spirit fly.
From Purea Nei, a waiata by Henare Mahanga / Hirini Melbourne.
A gathering of tūī rise together in the shape of a heart, carrying a beautiful message of love, release and the spirit that lives on.
E Rere Wairua is about the moment when love means letting someone go. Not forgetting them, and not losing the connection you shared - but allowing their spirit to be free.
The tūī flying together bring a sense of movement and freedom, while the heart holds the love that remains.
For someone remembering a person they love, this is a way of saying fly free, be at peace, and know that you are loved.
