This waiata is all about the magnetic pull of love! The words are full of affection, heartfelt love, and a longing to be with that someone special. Its the hope and promise of togetherness, arohanui, a special connection that means you are together even when apart. The tui birds in this artwork symbolise lovers joyfully reunited.

Me He Manu Rere—originates from a traditional Māori song collected at Whakarewarewa in the 1920s by Ernest McKinlay. The composer remains unknown, with some suggestion that it may come from the Te Arawa region
